Commander David T. St. Aubin

A native of Negaunee, Michigan, Commander St.Aubin enlisted in the United States Navy in June of 1999 and completed Nuclear Power School and Prototype in 2001. After finishing training and qualifying as a Mechanical Operator at NPTU Ballston Spa he was selected for direct admission into the United States Naval Academy where he graduated in May of 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
 

He completed flight training in Pensacola, Florida and Corpus Christi, Texas where he earned his “Wings of Gold” in 2007 and following Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) training in the P-3C Orion, joined the "Pelicans" of Patrol Squadron FOUR FIVE (VP-45) based in Jacksonville, FL.  While assigned to the Pelicans, Commander  St.Aubin served as the Quality Assurance Officer, Instructor Pilot, and Mission Commander.  During this time, he deployed to the SEVENTH Fleet and completed multiple detachments to the FOURTH and SIXTH Fleets.

 

In March 2011, Commander St.Aubin reported for instructor duty at the "Rangers" of Training Squadron TWO EIGHT (VT-28) in Corpus Christi, Texas. While there he served as the Safety  Department Head, Aviation Safety Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, Instructor Pilot, and Crew Resource Management Model Manager.

 

In February of 2014, Commander St.Aubin completed training at the Surface Warfare Officer School in Newport, RI and reported aboard USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN 75). As the Operations Administration Officer, he qualified as Officer of the Deck (Underway) and Command Duty Officer (Underway) and deployed to the FIFTH Fleet twice on Truman and once on USS CARL VINSON (CVN-70).

 

In September 2016, Commander St.Aubin reported to Patrol Squadron ONE (VP-1), based in Whidbey Island, WA. Throughout his time as a department head in VP-1 he served as the Administrative Officer, Tactics Officer, Training Officer, and Maintenance Officer. During his tour, the Squadron completed two deployments to FIFTH, SIXTH, and SEVENTH Fleets in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. Additionally, he served three times as the officer in charge of a detachment to Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti supporting Operations RESTORE HOPE and COPPER DUNE.

 

In July 2019, Commander St.Aubin reported to the Pentagon and Joint Chiefs of Staff where he served in the Operations Directorate (J-3) as the Cyberspace Operations Branch Chief for the Deputy Director for Global Operations (J-39). Following his selection for command of Patrol Squadron FOUR ZERO (VP-40), he detached the Joint Staff in June 2021 and reported as the Executive Officer of VP-40 after retraining at the FRS in the P-8A.

 

Commander St.Aubin holds a master’s degree from Georgetown University and has accumulated over 3,000 flight hours in naval aircraft. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
