Command Master Chief Shane Cardon

Master Chief Cardon was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He joined the United States Navy on May 1993 and graduated basic training from Recruit Training Command, San Diego, California. Upon completion of Radioman Technician “A” school on board Training Support Center, San Diego, he was designated as a Radioman.  His first duty assignment was on board USS BLUERIDGE (LCC 19), Naval Station (NAVSTA) Yokosuka, Japan.

His follow on duty assignments were with NAVCOMTELSTA Far East Yokosuka, Japan, then onboard USS INDEPENDENCE (CV 62) forward deployed NAVSTA Yokosuka, Japan and USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG 60) NAVSTA Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  While on board USS Paul Hamilton, he was selected for Chief Petty Officer in July 2002.

Master Chief Cardon’s next tour was with Center for Information Dominance, Training Center Great Lakes where he earned his Master Training Specialist Certificate.  He then reported to NAVCOMTELSTA BAHRAIN where he served as Joint Fleet Telecommunications Operations Center Watch Officer.

His next duty assignment was onboard USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) in January 2008, where he served as Combat Information Branch Leading Chief Petty Officer and as Combat Systems Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer.  He was selected for Senior Chief Petty Officer in May 2009 and selected for assignment as Command Senior Chief in February 2010.

Upon his selection to Command Senior Chief he reported to the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 155/Gold and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Class 81.  He reported to USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61), NAVSTA Everett, Washington as the Command Senior Chief in November 2010.  Taking the frigate through a Dry-Dock Selected Restricted Availability (DSRA), training cycle and seven-month deployment in support of US SOUTHERN COMMAND.  In May 2012 he was selected for Master Chief Petty Officer.

He reported to Electronic Attack Squadron ONE THREE NINE (VAQ-139 COUGARS) at Naval Air Station, Whidbey Island Washington in December 2012 as the Command Master Chief. Leading the COUGARS through work-up cycle, culminating in a highly successful scheduled 10-month maiden deployment for VAQ-139 EA-18G platform, deploying aboard USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70) returning in June 2015. From May 2016 to February 2019 Master Chief Cardon was the Command Master Chief at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. He the reported to the “First to the Fleet, First to the Fight” VAQ-132 SCORPIONS in February 2019 and led them on a highly successful seven and half month WESTPAC deployment. CMDCM Cardon assumed Command Master Chief at Commander Electronic Attack Wing US Pacific Fleet (CVWP) on March 2021.

Master Chief Cardon has been deployed in support of Operation Southern Watch, Operation Desert Fox, Operation Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, Combating Transnational Organized Crime, Operation Martello, and Operation Inherent Resolve.  His awards include Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards) along with multiple unit and campaign awards.
