Commander Chris Anderson

A native of Oak Harbor, Washington, Commander Anderson graduated from Western Washington University in 2005, earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.  CDR Anderson was commissioned through Officer Candidate School and reported to NAS Whiting Field to begin flight training in February 2006.  He earned his Naval Aviator Wings in July 2007.  In October 2007, CDR Anderson reported to the VAQ-129 “Vikings” for initial fleet training as an EA-6B Pilot.
CDR Anderson began his operational flying in October 2008 with the “Rooks” of VAQ-137.  While a “Rook”, he made one deployment aboard USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65), participating in counter piracy operations, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, and Operation NEW DAWN.
In February 2012, CDR Anderson reported back to VAQ-129 as one of the final EA-6B instructor pilots. After two years of instructing EA-6B students, he transitioned to the EA-18G Growler.  He stayed with VAQ-129 as a Growler instructor for an additional year.
CDR Anderson returned to the fleet as a Super JO in VAQ-134, the “Garudas”.  While there, he assisted the Garudas as the final squadron to the transition to the EA-18G, while serving as Assistant Operations Officer and Admin Department Head.  He was then selected for Department Head and left VAQ-134’s first Growler deployment early.
In December 2017, CDR Anderson reported to the “Yellowjackets” of VAQ-138 for his department head tour.  While with the Yellowjackets, he completed two expeditionary deployments to the INDO-PACOM AOR in support of C7F, serving as Safety Officer, Operations Officer, and Maintenance Officer.
Following his department head tour, CDR Anderson served as the N7 Training Department Head at Electronic Attack Wing Pacific (CVWP).  While on staff, he directly supported the SAP All-the-Time (SATT) Initiative as the CVWP Government Program Manager.  He was selected for command in March 2021 and is scheduled to report to EAWS as Executive Officer in December 2022.
CDR Anderson has accumulated over 2,200 flight hours in 6 aircraft and has over 150 carrier arrested landings, including 24 combat missions. His awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medals and various service awards and ribbons.
