Commander Kyle "Bambi" Beilke

Commander Kyle “Bambi” Beilke, a native of Brooks, Oregon, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA and was awarded a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 2007. He was designated a Naval Flight Officer in May 2009.  CDR Beilke completed the Carrier Airborne Early Warning Weapons School (CAEWWS) Advanced Mission Commander Course and is a Class 144 graduate of the United States Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS).
CDR Beilke’s operational assignments include tours with VAW-117 (USS NIMITZ) as a junior officer, CTF-70/CSG-5 as Air Defense Officer (USS REAGAN), and VAW-113 (USS CARL VINSON) as a department head. He has deployed four times in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Operation NEW DAWN, and routine strategic deterrence operations in the Western Pacific.
CDR Beilke’s shore assignments include tours at USNTPS, Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 20, and Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic (AIRLANT).  While at VX-20, he served as a Developmental Test NFO on E-2D projects including the APX-122A Mode 5 interrogator, the AN/APY-9 RADAR, and Delta Software/Set Configuration 2.  In 2015, CDR Beilke was selected as VX-20 and Naval Test Wing Atlantic Test NFO of the Year. At AIRLANT, he served as the E-2/C-2 Class Desk Officer where he supported 13 squadrons by managing periodic aircraft maintenance events, reviewing and scheduling aircraft modifications, and approving TYCOM cannibalization actions in support of fleet operational requirements.
CDR Beilke has accumulated over 1,900 hours in 16 models of jet, prop, and rotary wing aircraft. He holds acquisition career field certifications in Test and Evaluation and Engineering. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3), Navy Achievement Medal (2), and various campaign awards and unit commendations.
He is married to the former Kelly Smith of Virginia Beach, VA, and together they have three daughters, Elsie (10), Nell (8), Hattie (4) and a son, Smith (6).
