Commander Dave “Duck” Miceli

A native of Rochester, New York, Commander Miceli enlisted in 1998 and served as an Aviation Electronics Technician until August 2001. He was stationed at NAF Washington and deployed with VAQ-209 in support of Operation SOUTHERN WATCH.
 
He left active duty after his selection for Navy ROTC and graduated from North Carolina State University in 2005, earning a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. He continued to the Air Force Institute of Technology and graduated in 2006 with his Masters of Science in Aerospace Engineering.
 
Following flight training in Pensacola, FL, CDR Miceli began his operational flying in 2008 with the “Indians” of HS-6. While with the Indians, he deployed aboard the USS NIMITZ (CVN 68), participating in Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
 
Commander Miceli was subsequently selected as an SH-60F, HH-60H, and MH-60S Flight Instructor at Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron THREE (HSC-3) in San Diego, California. While with the “Merlins” he served as Legal and Quality Assurance Officers.
 
Following instructor duty, Commander Miceli transferred to the Navy Office of Legislative Affairs in the Pentagon where he served as the Executive Assistant to the Chief of Legislative Affairs from 2014-2015.
 
Commander Miceli completed refresher training in the MH-60S and initial training in the MQ-8B Fire
 
Scout UAS in 2016, then reported to HSC-21, the “Blackjacks.” While with the Blackjacks, he served as Safety Officer, Detachment Officer in Charge (OIC), and Operations Department Head.
 
Following his department head tour, CDR Miceli reported to the Joint Staff, Nuclear, Homeland Defense and Current Operations Directorate (J-36) at the Pentagon. While there, Commander Miceli was certified as a Presidential Strike Advisor and served as the Assistant Deputy Director of Operations for Operations Team TWO. CDR Miceli has accumulated over 2,600 flight hours in the SH-60F, HH-60H, MH-60S and MQ-8B.
