Command Master Chief, Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 141

20 December 2020 Master Chief Liam is a native of San Fernando Pampanga, Philippines.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in April 1995 and attended recruit training at Regional Training Center, Chicago, Illinois.

After training, he reported aboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) in San Diego CA where he was rated as an Aviation Support Equipment Technician.  He completed multiple Western Pacific deployments to include “Operation Southern Watch” and the ship’s homeport change in Yokosuka, Japan. 

In 2000, he reported to his first shore duty assignment in Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF), Barking Sands, Kauai Hawaii, and in 2003 where he served as the Support Equipment Division Leading Petty Officer and as the detachment's production LPO in Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Detachment (AIMD), Sigonella, Sicily, Italy, in support of Operations ENDURING and IRAQI FREEDOM. 

In 2006, he reported to his second tour afloat aboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) in San Diego, California.  He completed numerous training exercises, three deployments and was promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 2007.  In 2010, he reported to AIMD Atsugi, Japan where he was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2012. 

In 2013, he went back to sea duty and reported to the USS Bon Homme Richard (LHD 6) homeported in Sasebo, Japan followed by another tour back to Atsugi, Japan and served as the Senior Enlisted Leader for AIMD and was selected for the Command Senior Chief program in 2018.

In November 2018, he reported to Fleet Readiness Center Western Pacific (FRCWP) as the Command Senior/Master Chief and was selected for advancement to Master Chief Petty Officer in 2019.

Currently, Master Chief Liam is serving as the Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ 141) “Shadowhawks” Command Master Chief located in MCAS Iwakuni Japan.

He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 216 (Purple Group) and Command Master Chief /Chief of the Boat Class 193 in Newport, Rhode Island.

Master Chief Liam is designated as an Enlisted Aviation and Surface Warfare Specialist.  His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) as well as various unit and campaign awards.
