10 June 2021 CDR Kevin Harrington is a native of Lake Orion, MI, and a 2005 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree, with distinction, in Information Systems Management.  In July 2005, CDR Harrington reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL, and began flight training.  He earned his Naval Aviator wings of gold in December 2006.
 
He reported to his first fleet squadron, the “War Eagles” of Patrol Squadron SIXTEEN, in August 2007 where he conducted two deployments and one surge period.  While assigned to the War Eagles, CDR Harrington qualified as a P-3C Aircraft Commander, Mission Commander, and Instructor Pilot.  He served as the Public Affairs, Ground Safety, and the Pilot NATOPS Officer.  CDR Harrington flew operational missions in the U.S. FOURTH, FIFTH, and SIXTH Fleet Areas of Responsibility. 
 
In February 2011, CDR Harrington reported to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron ONE (VX-1) in Patuxent River, MD as an Operational Test Director in the P-8A. He directly coordinated with OPTEVFOR, PMA-290, Boeing, and across the P-8A Integrated Test Team to plan, execute and report on the P-8A Initial Operational Test and Evaluation to inform the Milestone C Decision.  He also served as VX-1’s Quality Assurance Officer, responsible for six different T/M/S aircraft.
 
CDR Harrington reported to USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) as a Catapult and Arresting Gear Officer in November 2013.  He immediately cross-decked to the USS TRUMAN which was deployed to the U.S. FIFTH Fleet in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.  CDR Harrington fully qualified as a “Shooter” onboard REAGAN and served as the V-2 Division Officer. Leading the largest division onboard, he coordinated the ship’s seamless homeport change to Japan and led a team responsible for more than 10,000 labor-hours of work that resulted in an on-time finish of REAGAN’s planned incremental availability.
 
In June 2015, CDR Harrington reported to Patrol Squadron THIRTY (VP-30) for duty as a Fleet Replacement Squadron Instructor Pilot.  In addition to his duties as an Instructor Pilot and the P-8A Training Director, CDR Harrington lead the team responsible for the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Community’s transition of NAS Whidbey Island based squadrons from the legacy P-3C to the P-8A.
 
CDR Harrington joined the “Skinny Dragons” of Patrol Squadron FOUR as soon as they touched down in Whidbey Island, WA and began their transition to the P-8A in October 2016 – the first West coast P-8A squadron.  He requalified as a P-8A Aircraft Commander, Mission Commander, Instructor Pilot, and Functional Check Pilot, accumulating more than 2,000 military flight hours.  CDR Harrington served as Officer in Charge of CPRW-10’s Homeland Defense Detachment, Kaneohe Bay, HI, Safety/NATOPS Department Head, and Administrative Department Head. He led the Maintenance Department for more than thirteen months and through a record-setting SEVENTH Fleet deployment.  In 2018, the Skinny Dragons won the Battle “E”, the Arleigh Burke Fleet Trophy, and the Captain Arnold Jay Isbell ASW Excellence Awards.
 
CDR Harrington reported to the U.S. Naval War College in July 2019. He graduated from the Senior Leadership Course earning JPME II credit as well a Masters degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. Additionally, he is graduate of the Advanced Strategist Program, earning a Naval Strategist Subspecialty Code.
 
In July, 2020 he checked onboard the OPNAV staff and served as the Deputy Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Warfighting Development (OPNAV N7) until August, 2021.
 
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.  CDR Harrington also earned a Masters degree in Business Administration, with distinction, from the Naval Postgraduate School distance learning program.
