Commander Blaine "Coco" Felloney

Commanding Officer, Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 136

26 October 2020 Commander Felloney is from San Diego, California and graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1999 with a degree in Physiology. After graduation he attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in November of 2002. CDR Felloney was designated a Naval Aviator in March 2005 and selected for training in the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet with the “Flying Eagles” of VFA-122 at NAS Lemoore, CA.
 
CDR Felloney reported to the “Royal Maces” of VFA-27 at NAF Atsugi, Japan for his first operational tour. While a “Royal Mace,” the squadron conducted six deployments aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) and one deployment aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73). The squadron participated in numerous joint and multinational large force exercises in the 7th Fleet Area of Responsibility.
 
In November 2008, CDR Felloney reported to TOPGUN at NAS Fallon, NV, completing the Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor course in March 2009. Following graduation, CDR Felloney reported to the TOPGUN staff for follow-on instructor duties serving as the Navy’s surface-to-air threat and countertactics subject matter expert.
 
In August 2012, CDR Felloney returned to the fleet as a Training Officer in the “Sidewinders” of VFA-86. While at VFA-86, CDR Felloney received Department Head orders to the “Royal Maces” of VFA-27.
 
CDR Felloney returned to the “Royal Maces” at NAF Atsugi, Japan in January 2014. While with VFA-27, CDR Felloney served as the Administrative Officer, Safety Officer, Maintenance Officer and Operations Officer during four deployments aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73) and two deployments aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). While at VFA-27, CDR Felloney was selected as the 2015 Commander, Naval Air Forces Pacific Pilot of the Year.
 
In August 2016, CDR Felloney reported to the “Green Bats” of the 422nd Test and Evaluation Squadron at Nellis AFB, NV flying the F-22 Raptor. While assigned, CDR Felloney served as Division Commander managing operational test for Raptor modernization, further refinement of sensor enhancement, and development of tactics, techniques, and procedures to counter the advanced air threat.  While in the 422nd Test and Evaluation Squadron, CDR Felloney was selected for operational squadron command and slated to VFA-136 the “Knighthawks.”  He reported as Executive Officer in September 2020.
 
CDR Felloney has accumulated over 625 carrier arrested landings and over 3,500 flight hours. He credits his personal, unit, and service awards to the exceptional sailors and airmen with whom he has proudly served.
