Commander Branden K. Woods

Commander Branden Woods is a native of Lexington, KY.  He graduated from Centre College in Danville, KY in 2001.  He attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in July 2003 and designated a Naval Flight Officer in January 2005 at Randolph Air Force Base, TX.

CDR Woods first operational service was with Patrol Squadron FOUR SIX on NAS Whidbey Island, WA from 2005-2008.  During that time, he completed two deployments to the 5th and 7th Fleet AORs in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.  
 
CDR Woods first shore assignment was with Patrol Squadron THREE ZERO at NAS Jacksonville, FL from 2008-2011.  He served as a P-3C Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) Instructor NFO, Lead NFO Fleet NATOPS Evaluator, NFO Track Manager and Professional Development Officer.  As a member of the Fleet NATOPS Evaluation Team, he contributed to 34 NATOPS Unit inspections of over 700 Fleet and FRS Naval Flight Officers from 26 different commands.
 
CDR Woods next was assigned as the Flag Lieutenant for Carrier Strike Group TWELVE embarked on board USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) from 2011-2013.  As the Flag Lieutenant he planned, managed, and executed the Admiral’s daily schedule and associated activities. 
 
CDR Woods second shore assignment was at Navy Personnel Command as the VP Sea and Shore Detailer from 2013-2015. As the Detailer he was responsible for efficient manpower allocation and career progression of over 2,600 Officers spanning 13 squadrons, 3 Wings and overseas staffs.
 
CDR Woods completed his Department Head Tour at Patrol Squadron TWO SIX on NAS Jacksonville, FL from 2015-2017, after a transition to the P-8A. As the Operations Officer, he successfully guided the squadron through a 7th Fleet deployment, the first with the P-8A for the squadron.
 
CDR Woods completed his post Department Head tour at the Central Intelligence Agency in Langley, VA. He was assigned as the Executive Assistant for the Associate Director for Military Affairs.
 
CDR Woods awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Naval Commendation Medal (3 Awards), Naval Achievement Medal and various campaign medals.
