Chief Bethany Turner

AOC(AW)Bethany Turner was born and raised in Jefferson City, Missouri.  She entered the Navy under the Delayed Entry Program and attended Recruit Training at Great Lakes, IL in November 2007.  After Basic Training, she reported to AO “A” School in Pensacola, Florida.
Upon completion of AO “A” School, her first duty assignment was to the “Vikings” of Electronic Attack Squadron 129 (VAQ-129) stationed in Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, WA.  Throughout her tour with the Vikings, she advanced to Petty Officer Third Class and earned her Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist qualification
She reported to VAQ-135 Black Ravens, where she advanced to Petty Officer Second Class.  Serving as the Ordnance Assistant Leading Petty Officer, she successfully led the Black Ravens through a transition from the EA-6B Prowler to the EA-18G Growler.  In January 2012, she completed the squadron's first "expeditionary" deployment to the CENTCOM AOR and in 2015, she completed the commands first 7th Fleet deployment.  She was recognized as Junior Sailor of the Year In December 2013 and advanced to First Class Petty Officer in September 2014.
In March 2016, she transferred to Electronic Attack Weapons School in Whidbey Island Washington, as Ordnance and Avionics Instructor for the EA-18G.  She was selected for Chief Petty Officer in September 2017.
She was sent TAD to VAQ-129 immediately after being pinned to Chief Petty Officer to fill a critically gapped billet as the Ordnance Branch Chief.  In addition to serving as the Ordnance Branch Chief, she served as Maintenance Control Chief and Admin Leading Chief Petty Officer.
In October 2019, she was assigned as the Command Operations Leading Chief Petty Officer at Navy Munitions Command Pacific CONUS West Division Detachment Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor Washington. 
She reported to Electronic Attack Weapons School in Whidbey Island Washington in May 2023 where she is currently serving as Senior Enlisted Leader.
Her decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Good Conduct (six awards) Military Volunteer Service Medal (two awards),
She holds an Associate Degree from Columbia College in General Studies.  Her husband, Von, is also serving in the U.S. Navy as a Chief at COMVAQWINGPAC.  The couple has two sons:  Grayson (3) and Rylan (1).
