About Us On 4 October 2007 Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron SEVEN ONE (HSM-71) was established as the United States Navy’s first MH-60R squadron and since their inception have embodied the squadron’s motto of "FIRST AND FINEST." HSM-71 continues to set the standard as a community leader in every aspect of Surface Warfare (SUW), Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), and Electronic Warfare (EW) mission areas.
