Captain Christopher Hulitt

22 October 2020 A native of Randallstown, Maryland, CAPT Chris “Mullet” Hulitt graduated from Towson University in 1996. He enlisted in the Navy in 1997 as an Electronics Technician before he received his commission through Officer Candidate School in September 1998.
CAPT Hulitt’s first fleet assignment was with the VAW-115 “Liberty Bells,” forward deployed to NAS Atsugi Japan, where he served as the Assistant Operations and Quality Assurance Officer. During this tour, he completed multiple Western Pacific deployments on board the USS KITTY HAWK (CV-63) and deployed to the Arabian Gulf for execution of Operation SOUTHERN WATCH and the major combat operations phase of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
His next assignment, CAPT Hulitt served as the Navy Command and Control/Air Intercept Control (AIC) Subject Matter Expert, AIC Division Officer and NSAWC Journal Editor at the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) in Fallon, NV.  Following his tour in Fallon, he was the Training Officer and Weapons and Tactics Instructor for the VAW-121 “Bluetails” at NAS Norfolk, VA.  After this tour he attended the Naval War College, where he was a member of Halsey Group “ALFA” and graduated “with distinction.”
CAPT Hulitt’s Department Head tour was with the VAW-112 “Golden Hawks” at NAS Point Mugu, CA where he served as the Quality Assurance, Training, Maintenance and Operations Officer.  During this assignment he deployed aboard the USS JOHN C STENNIS (CVN-74) to the Western Pacific and in a later deployment to the Fifth Fleet AOR for Operation NEW DAWN and ENDURING FREEDOM. 
After his Department Head tour, CAPT Hulitt reported to HQ U.S. Africa Command J33 in Stuttgart, Germany for joint duty, where he served as a Joint Operations Center Team Chief.
CAPT Hulitt returned to the VAW-112 “Golden Hawks” as Executive Officer, where he led the squadron through a deployment to the Western Pacific and prepared the command to deactivate.  He re-joined the “Liberty Bells” while the squadron was forward deployed to NAF Atsugi, Japan as XO and moved the squadron to NAS Point Mugu, CA.  After his command tour with VAW-115, he reported to NAWDC as N6/CAEWWS Department Head in July 2019.  In November 2019, CAPT Hulitt was selected for Major Aviation Command as Airborne Command & Control and Logistics Wing, Deputy Commodore.
In March 2022, CAPT Hulitt took over as Commander of Airborne Command & Control and Logistics Wing in Point Mugu, CA as the Commodore.
His decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, one Strike Flight Air Medal, five Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, the Joint Service Achievement medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various other unit citations and campaign ribbons. He has accumulated more than 2600 flight hours in the E-2C/D, FA-18, MH-60S, MH-60R, and other tactical aircraft.
