25 October 2020 Commander Cochran was born and raised in Fernandina Beach, Florida.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2003 and was designated a Naval Aviator in 2006 while stationed at NAS Meridian, MS. He then reported to Strike Fighter Squadron ONE TWO TWO (VFA-122) for initial training in the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.

Commander Cochran’s operational assignments include tours with Strike Fighter Squadron TWO TWO (VFA-22), Strike Fighter Squadron EIGHT SEVEN (VFA-87) and Strike Fighter Squadron ONE THREE SIX (VFA-136).  He has completed five deployments aboard USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76), USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN-77), and USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN-71).  He is a graduate of the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) where served as an instructor from March 2010 to January 2013. 
In 2017 Commander Cochran reported to Strike Fighter Squadron ONE ZERO ONE (VFA-101) and transitioned to the F-35C Lightning II.  He subsequently reported to Strike Fighter Squadron ONE TWO FIVE (VFA-125) where he served as the Training Officer and Executive Officer, followed by the Joint Strike Fighter Wing (CJSFW) where he served as the staff N7.
Commander Cochran was selected as the 2015 Commander, Naval Air Forces Atlantic LCDR Michael G. Hoff Attack Aviator of the Year and received the 2016 Commander Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic Longardt Leadership of the Year award.
Commander Cochran has accumulated more than 2,800 hours in the F/A-18A-F, F-16A and F-35C.  He is entitled to wear the Meritorious Service Medal, Strike / Flight Medal (Three Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Four Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various personal, unit and service awards.
