Executive Officer, Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 27

26 October 2020 Commander Adam Cohen, from Goshen, NY, commissioned in 2004 upon graduation from the United States Naval Academy with a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering.  CDR Cohen completed flight school and was designated a Naval Aviator in October 2006.  Upon winging, he received initial F/A-18E/F training with the “Gladiators” of Strike Fighter Squadron ONE ZERO SIX at NAS Oceana, VA.
 
CDR Cohen’s operational assignments include AV/ARM Division Officer and Assistant Operations Officer in Strike Fighter Squadron THREE ONE (VFA-31), Training Officer in Strike Fighter Squadron ELEVEN (VFA-11), and Safety, Operations, and Maintenance Officer in Strike Fighter Squadron TWO SEVEN (VFA-27).  He has deployed five times to the Mediterranean Sea, Arabian Gulf, and Indo-Pacific regions.
 
Ashore, CDR Cohen served as a Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor and Tactics Branch Head in Air Test and Evaluation Squadron NINE (VX-9) at NAWS China Lake, CA, after graduating from the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN). Additionally, CDR Cohen served as an Action Officer in the Requirements and Resources Directorate (J8) at Headquarters, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, HI.
 
CDR Cohen reported to VFA-27 as the Executive Officer in December 2021.
 
CDR Cohen has logged over 2700 flight hours and 630 carrier arrested landings.  He credits his personal, unit, and service awards to the exceptional service members with whom he has proudly served.
