Command Master Chief Frederick “Mike” Tyler

 
A native of Dallas, TX, Master Chief Tyler enlisted in July 1995 and attended Recruit Training Command followed by Data Systems Technician Field ‘A’ School in Great Lakes, IL.  After completion, he attended Aircraft Carrier Tactical Support System maintenance course in Dam Neck, VA before reporting to his first duty station.  The Data Systems Technician rating was retired in 1998 and his rating converted to Electronics Technician.
 
He was selected for advancement to Chief Petty Officer in 2008.  In 2012 he was selected for Senior Chief Petty Officer, and in 2020 he was selected for promotion to Master Chief Petty Officer.  He applied and was selected as a Command Master Chief in 2021.
 
Master Chief Tyler’s previous assignments at sea include USS Independence (CV 62); USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70); Sea Air Land Team ONE; Assault Craft Unit FIVE detachment Western Pacific; Naval Beach Unit SEVEN detachment LCAC; USS Emory S. Land (AS 39); and USS America (LHA 6). 
 
Assignments ashore include Center for Surface Combat Systems detachment Dam Neck and Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility San Diego, detachment Pearl Harbor.
 
His currently serves as the Command Master Chief of Strike Fighter Squadron ONE ONE FIVE (VFA 115), Forward Deployed Naval Forces, Iwakuni, Japan.
 
Master Chief Tyler has a Bachelor degree in Information Technology Management, Associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 205, CMC/COB course, and is a qualified Master Training Specialist.  He is authorized to wear the Enlisted Surface Warfare, Enlisted Aviation Warfare, Craftmaster, and Small Craft (Enlisted) Breast Insignia’s.  His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6) and various other unit and campaign awards.
