Commander Dustin “Doorman” Detrick

Executive Officer, Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 136

26 October 2020 A native of Dallas, TX, Commander Detrick graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2006, earned his Naval Aviator wings in 2008, and completed initial F/A-18 qualification in 2009 at VFA-106.   
    CDR Detrick reported to VFA-143 in 2009 and completed two deployments aboard USS Eisenhower (CVN 69) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. 
    In 2012, CDR Detrick graduated from the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School with follow on orders to serve as an instructor at Strike Fighter Weapons School Pacific in NAS Lemoore, CA.
    In 2015, CDR Detrick returned to the fleet as a training officer in VFA-137 where he completed a Southern Seas deployment onboard USS George Washington (CVN-73). 
    In 2017, CDR Detrick reported as a department head to VFA-113 where he completed a deployment onboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
    In 2019, CDR Detrick reported to the Naval Aviation Warfare Development Center (NAWDC) to serve as the Air Wing Training Officer in the N5 department.  
    CDR Detrick reported to VFA-136 as Executive Officer in December 2021.
    CDR Detrick has accumulated over 2,700 flight hours and over 400 arrested landings.  He credits his personal, service, and unit awards to the exceptional Sailors and Airmen with whom he has proudly served.
