Commander Alexander F. Horn

Commander Alex Horn graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2006, earning a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. Upon graduation, Commander Horn reported to Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, FL for Aviation Pre-flight Indoctrination

in August 2006. From there, he reported to the 88th Flying Training Squadron at Enid Air Force Base, OK, for primary flight training in the T-6A. Commander Horn then transferred to VT-9 at NAS Meridian, MS for training in the T-45C. In November 2008, he arrived at Electronic Attack Squadron ONE TWO NINE (VAQ-129) at NAS Whidbey Island, WA to begin training as a replacement pilot in the EA-6B.

Commander Horn began his operational flying with the WIZARDS of VAQ-133 in June 2010. During his time with the WIZARDS, he completed two combat deployments aboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74) in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and Operation NEW DAWN.

Commander Horn returned to VAQ-129 in May 2013 to transition to the EA-18G and then remained with the squadron as an instructor.

In August 2016, Commander Horn reported to the PATRIOTS of VAQ-140 as an operational Department Head. While there he served on a combat deployment aboard USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN in support of operation FREEDOM’S SENTINEL and served as the Safety and Maintenance Officer.

Following his tour with the PATRIOTS, Commander Horn reported for duty at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. While there, he served as an action officer in the Warfighter Communications Division of Joint Staff, J6.

Commander Horn has accumulated over 2,100 hours in the EA-18G and other aircraft. His military awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other unit and campaign awards.
