Captain Edward Weiler

26 October 2020 Captain Edward Weiler is a native of Mount Holly, New Jersey. He graduated from The Citadel in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science as an Education Major, and was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy. He was designated a Naval Aviator in July 1999 and assigned to Helicopter Combat Support Squadron THREE (HC-3), Naval Air Station North Island, California, for Fleet Replacement training in the CH-46D Sea Knight helicopter.

Upon completion of this training, CAPT Weiler reported to Helicopter Combat Support Squadron EIGHT (HC-8), NAS Norfolk, and made deployments on the USS KEARSARGE (LHD 3) and the USNS SUPPLY (T-AOE 6) throughout the Mediterranean. In September 2003, CAPT Weiler reported to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron THREE (HSC-3) as an MH-60S Instructor Pilot. While at HSC-3 he graduated from the Seahawk Weapons and Tactics Instructor course at the NAWDC as well as earned an EMBA through the Naval Postgraduate School.

In June 2006 CAPT Weiler reported to HSC-25 as the Squadron Weapons and Tactics Officer supporting the Naval Air Ambulance Detachment (NAAD) out of Camp Buehring, Kuwait. In January 2008, he reported to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron FIFTEEN (HS-15) where he served as both the Operations and Maintenance Officer, deploying to Balad, Iraq in support of the Combined Joint Operations Air Component as well as supporting Operation Unified Response onboard USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70). After his Department Head tour he served on the Joint Staff as the Senior Emergency Actions Officer in the Operations Directorate (J-36). Following the Joint Staff, he served as Commanding Officer of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron FOURTEEN (HSC-14) out of San Diego, CA as a part of Carrier Air Wing Nine onboard USS John C. Stennis.

In October 2015, CAPT Weiler reported to ASN (FM&C) as a Congressional Liaison in FMBE, working with Congressional Defense Appropriations Committees in support of the DoN Budget submission. In September of 2016, CAPT Weiler was selected to command the Island Knights of HSC-25 stationed in Guam. Following this one-year assignment, CAPT Weiler returned to FMBE in October 2017 where he took over as Deputy Director, FMBE.

CAPT Weiler has logged over 3,400 flight hours. He is authorized to wear the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, two Air Medals (Strike/Flight award), six Navy Commendation Medals, one Navy Achievement Medal, and has been awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Leadership Award four separate times.
