He earned his Wings of Gold as a Naval Aviator in March 2007, and reported to the HS-10 “Warhawks” in San Diego, CA for initial fleet training in the SH-60F and HH-60H airframes.

In January 2008, Commander Glass reported to the “World Famous Golden Falcons” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron TWO (HS-2), where he deployed aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM in the northern Arabian Gulf.  In 2009 the squadron transitioned to the new MH-60S airframe and was redesignated from HS-2 to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron TWELVE (HSC-12).  In 2010, Commander Glass again deployed aboard CVN-72 in support of Operations NEW DAWN and ENDURING FREEDOM in the North Arabian Sea.

Commander Glass was selected for instructor duty and transferred to the “Merlins” of HSC-3 in 2011. As an instructor, he served as the HSC Curriculum Program Manager, and then the MH-60S Program Manager and Lead CNAF Evaluator, responsible for maintaining the NATOPS and CRM Programs for the MH-60S. During this time, Commander Glass earned his Master’s Degree in Systems Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School.  Following his instructor tour, Commander Glass reported to Carrier Air Wing SEVENTEEN (CVW-17) as the helicopter element representative aboard the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70).  During this tour he deployed from 2014-2015 in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE.

In 2016 Commander Glass reported once again to HSC-12, this time based at NAF Atsugi, Japan. He deployed several times in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility aboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) as the squadron’s Administrative Officer and then Maintenance Officer.  During this time, HSC-12 won the Navy “Battle E” for combat efficiency and twice won the Secretary of Defense “Phoenix” award for maintenance excellence.  His final assignment was as officer-in-charge of the air detachment aboard the USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19), where he successfully led the ship through air integration recertification after a two-year dry dock period.

Following his Department Head tour, Commander Glass reported to Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha NE.  He served his Joint tour attached to the National Airborne Operations Center (NAOC) before receiving assignment as the Executive Officer of HSC-3.

Commander Glass has had the honor and privilege of working with the finest aviators, crewmembers, and maintenance professionals in the Fleet, and his personal successes are made possible only by their dedicated efforts. As a result, he is fortunate to be able to wear the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and several Joint, naval service, and personal unit and campaign medals.  He is a 2014 graduate of the Navy Rotary Wing Weapons School (SEAWOLF) and has accumulated over 2,600 mishap-free flight hours in the service of his country.
