Command Master Chief Jeffrey E. Jones Jr.

Command Master Chief, Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 8

27 October 2020 Master Chief Jeffrey E. Jones Jr. is a native of Stockton, California and enlisted in the Navy in June 1997.  Following completion of Basic Training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL, he reported to NATTC Pensacola, FL, where he graduated from Aviation Electronics Technician (AT) “A” school. 
 
His first command was Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 22, stationed onboard NAS Lemoore, CA where he served as an F/A-18C Hornet Plane Captain and Collateral Duty Inspector, completing two WESTPAC deployments deployed onboard USS CARL VINSON.  During this tour, he was promoted to Petty Officer Second Class and attained his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS) and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) warfare pins.
 
His second tour was at Commander, Fleet Activities Okinawa, Japan where he performed drone maintenance and was a drone pilot for the BQM-74E Aerial Target Drone and several remote control surface targets.  He participated in multiple joint military operations deployed onboard various ships and during this tour, he was promoted to the rank of Petty Officer First Class.
 
In August 2005, he reported to Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) Pensacola, FL where he attended the Advanced Avionics Integrated Weapon Systems Maintenance Class “C1” course.  Upon graduation, he reported to VFA-195 located onboard NAF Atsugi, Japan where he served as the Avionics work center and Quality Assurance Leading Petty Officer
 
In July 2009, he reported to the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Lemoore, CA where he qualified as an F/A-18 “C” School instructor and earned his Master Training Specialist qualification.  Shortly after reporting, he was promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer and served as the F/A-18 Leading Chief Petty Officer and Information Assurance Manager.   
 
In November 2012, Master Chief Jones reported back to VFA-195 where he served as a Maintenance Control Chief, Flight Deck Coordinator and Line Division Leading Chief Petty Officer.  In June 2015, he reported to the “Red Rippers” of VFA-11 deployed onboard USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN-71), where he served as the AV/ARM Branch Chief Petty Officer and Maintenance Control Supervisor.  During this tour, he attained his Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist (EIWS) warfare pin and was promoted to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2016.
 
In April 2017, Master Chief Jones reported back onboard CNATTU Lemoore, where he served as the Training Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and Senior Enlisted Advisor.  He was selected for the Command Senior Chief Program in March 2019 and reported for duty as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader at Cooperative Security Location Comalapa, El Salvador from August 2019 to September 2020.  He then reported to Naval Support Activity Lakehurst, NJ and served as the Senior Enlisted Leader from November 2020 until May 2022.  During this tour, he was promoted to Command Master Chief.  Master Chief Jones is currently serving as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader at Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron EIGHT stationed onboard Naval Base Coronado, CA.
 
Master Chief Jones is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 204 and holds an Associate of Arts Degree from University Maryland University College, an Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science Degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Trident University International. 
 
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
