27 October 2020 A native of Rochester, New York, Commander Miceli enlisted in 1998 and served as an Aviation Electronics Technician until August 2001.  He was stationed at NAF Washington and deployed with VAQ-209 in support of Operation SOUTHERN WATCH.  He left active duty after his selection for Navy ROTC and graduated from North Carolina State University in 2005, earning a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering.  He continued to the Air Force Institute of Technology and graduated in 2006 with his Masters of Science in Aerospace Engineering.  CDR Miceli reported to NAS Pensacola, FL for flight training in July 2006 and earned his Pilots Wings in December 2007.  He then reported to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron TEN for initial fleet training in the SH-60F and HH-60H helicopters.
CDR Miceli began his operational flying in 2008 with the “Indians” of HS-6.  While a “Indian”, he deployed aboard USS NIMITZ (CVN 68), participating in Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. 
Commander Miceli was subsequently assigned as an SH-60F, HH-60H, and MH-60S Flight Instructor at Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron THREE (HSC-3) in San Diego, California.  While with the “Merlins” he served as Legal and Quality Assurance Officers.
Following instructor duty, Commander Miceli transferred to the Navy Office of Legislative Affairs in the
Pentagon where he served as the Executive Assistant to the Director of Legislative Affairs from 2014-
Commander Miceli completed refresher training in the MH-60S and initial training in the MQ-8B Fire
Scout UAS in 2016, then reported to HSC-21, the “Blackjacks.”  While with the Blackjacks he served as Safety Officer, Detachment Officer in Charge (OIC), and Department Head. He led a Detachment aboard US Coast Guard Cutter STRATTON (WMSL 752) completing proof-of-concept MH-60S Airborne Use of Force/Counter Drug (AUF/CD) operations.  He also led detachments aboard USS AMERICA (LHA-6) and earned his Officer of the Deck qualification aboard USS ESSEX (LHD-2).  At home guard, he served as the Safety Officer and Operations Officer, helping the Blackjacks earn the Safety “S” and Battle “E” awards.
Following his department head tour, CDR Miceli reported to the Joint Staff, Nuclear, Homeland Defense and Current Operations Directorate (J-36) at the Pentagon.  While there, Commander Miceli was certified as a Presidential Strike Advisor and served as the Assistant Deputy Director of Operations for Operations Team TWO.  
CDR Miceli is currently serving as the Executive Officer of the “Chargers” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron FOURTEEN as of December 2021.
CDR Miceli has accumulated over 2100 flight hours in the SH-60F, HH-60H, SH-60S and MQ-8B and has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Award (five awards), the Navy Achievement Medal, the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign decorations.
