Command Master Chief, Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 37

27 October 2020 Command Master Chief Larry E. Williams is the Command Master Chief, Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 37.  Master Chief Williams enlisted in the Navy in August 1991. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida, he reported to Groton, Connecticut to complete the Submarine Advanced Electronic Field schools pipeline and Fire Co​ntrol Technician (Submarine) “A” school.

Master Chief Williams’ initial sea duty assignment was aboard USS BOISE (SSN 764) as a member of the ship’s Fire Control Division.  During this tour of duty, the ship completed two CENTCOM deployments and one Northern Atlantic deployments and earned his enlisted submarine dolphins.  Williams then reported to USS TOLEDO (SSN 769) where he completed one Mediterranean deployment.  In July 1998, Williams reported to Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific, Hawaii, as a lead instructor.

Following Instructor duty, Master Chief Williams reported for sea duty aboard USS TOLEDO (SSN 769) as Fire Control division Leading Petty Officer, completing one CENTCOM deployment and was promoted to Chief Petty Officer.

​​​Master Chief Williams then reported to USS SPRINGFIELD (SSN 761) as the Combat Systems Department Chief, completing one Mediterranean deployment.  He then transferred to Commander, Submarine Squadron Two in Groton, Connecticut, as the Tactical Assistant.  During this tour, he completed one Mediterranean deployment on the USS DALLAS (SSN 700).  Williams then served onboard USS MIAMI (SSN 755), completing one CENTCOM deployment and one Northern EUCOM deployment.  In September 2013, he reported to Commander, Submarine Squadron ONE in Pearl Harbor, HI as the Tactical Assistant.  Williams graduated the Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, Rhode Island, class 176 (Green) and the Command Master Chief / Chief of the Boat Capstone course prior to assuming the duties as Chief of the Boat aboard USS LOUISVILLE where he completed two Western Pacific deployments and one SOUTHCOM deployment.
Master Chief Williams then reported to the staff of Naval Submarine Support Command, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii prior to transferring to HSM-37 as the Command Master Chief.
Master Chief Williams personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards) and numerous campaign and unit awards.
