Commander Nicholas Bullard

29 October 2020 A native of San Diego, California, Commander Bullard Graduated from the University of Colorado in 2006, earning a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs. CDR Bullard was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Program and reported to NAS Pensacola, FL for flight training in June 2006. He earned his Naval Aviator Wings in February 2008.

                In March 2008, CDR Bullard reported to the VP-30 ‘Pro’s Nest’ for initial fleet training as a P-3 replacement pilot. CDR Bullard began his operational flying in October 2008 with the ‘Rangers’ of VQ-2. While a ‘Ranger’, he participated in six deployments to 4th, 5th and the FLEETS participating in Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, NEW DAWN, and UNIFIED PROTECTOR in addition to numerous other CONUS exercises and detachments.

                CDR Bullard reported to the VT-35 ‘Stingrays’ in November of 2011 as an Instructor pilot. During his tour as a ‘Stingray’ CDR Bullard served as a Flight Leader, CNATRA Stage Manager, and Squadron Standardization Officer while training and mentoring young officers earning their wings as Naval Aviators.

                CDR Bullard reported to USS RONALD REAGAN in 2014, USS GEORGE WASHINGTON in 2015, and finally USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT in 2016 as Assistant Navigator in support of a three-carrier homeport change. CDR Bullard returned to the fleet as a Department Head in VQ-1, the “World Watchers’ in 2017. While with the World Watchers, he completed three deployments, two to 7th FLEET, and the third to 6th FLEET AOR.

                Following his department head tour, CDR Bullard served as the VQ Assignments Officer, Naval Personnel Command. CDR Bullard reported to VQ-1 as Executive Officer in April 2021.

                CDR Bullard has accumulated over 3,000 flight hours in various aircraft. His awards include the Individual Air Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal (2 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), and Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards) and various service awards and ribbons.
