29 October 2020 Cedrick “Code Red” Jessup was born in Winston-Salem, NC. He attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where he received his BS in Marketing. He also holds an MA from Webster University in Human Resource Management and an MS from the Eisenhower School at the National Defense University in National Security and Resource Strategy with a concentration in Weapons of Mass Destruction.
On 24 Oct 1997, Captain Jessup was commissioned as an Officer in the U.S. Navy and began Pilot Flight Training. Upon completion, Captain Jessup reported to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Light Squadron FOUR ZERO for fleet replacement training in the Sikorsky SH-60B “Seahawk” helicopter. He was then assigned to the “Warlords” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Light Squadron FIVE ONE in June 2000 stationed in Japan. In June of 2003, Captain Jessup reported to BUPERS as Naval Aviation’s Helicopter Assignments Detailer in Millington, TN. Captain Jessup was then selected for an aircraft transition to the E-6B (TACAMO) heavy jet aircraft. He later reported to Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, OK at FAIRECONRON THREE (VQ-3) for assignment. During that tour, he served on a 15-month Individual Augmentee assignment with the 360th CA BDE in Iraq. Upon completing his assignment, he returned to Tinker AFB to FAIRECONRON FOUR (VQ-4), where he completed his department head tour. He was then assigned as an Emergency Actions Officer for the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the National Military Command Center at the Pentagon. He was pulled early from the Joint Staff to report back to Tinker AFB to assume duties as the Executive Officer and then Commanding Officer of VQ-4. Following his Command tour, he reported to the National Defense University (Eisenhower School) in Washington, DC and then reported to his next assignment in Naples, Italy as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Commander, Naval Forces Europe/Commander, Naval Forces Africa, the Commanding Officer for SIXTH Fleet, and the Commanding Officer for the European Personnel Exchange Program.
He assumed duties as Deputy Commodore, Strategic Communications Wing ONE, and Task Group 114.2 in August 2019 and assumed his current responsibilities as the Commodore/Commander of SCW-1/TG-114.2 in February of 2021.
Captain Jessup’s decorations include various personal awards including the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, two Navy Achievement Medals, and the Iraqi Campaign Medal with one star and holds his Airline Transport Pilot FAA qualification.
