29 October 2020 A native of the Philippines and raised on Guam, Commander Laus graduated from the University of Hawaii-Manoa, with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology.  CDR Laus was commissioned through Officer Candidate School and reported to NAS Pensacola, FL for flight training in November 2001. Upon completion of flight training at NAS Pensacola and Randolph AFB, TX, he was designated Naval Flight Officer in February 2003.  In March 2003, CDR Laus reported to Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron SEVEN (VQ-7) for initial fleet training as an E-6B Airborne Communications Officer (ACO).

His sea duty assignments includes tours with Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron THREE (VQ-3) at Tinker AFB, OK as a junior officer qualifying as an E-6B Naval Flight Officer instructor, Airborne Communications Officer instructor, and Mission Commander Evaluator; USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) home ported in Bremerton, WA as a Catapult and Arresting Gear Officer where he assisted in the launch and recovery of more than 7,500 aircraft in support of Sustainment Exercise and three Fleet Replacement Squadron and Training Command Carrier Qualification underway periods; and a second tour at VQ-3 as department head serving as Maintenance Officer.

CDR Laus’ shore assignments include VQ-7 as an E-6B ACO Instructor and earned a Master of Science Degree in Management – Acquisition and Contract Management, from Florida Institute of Technology; and U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) J-3 Directorate serving as a Chief, Mission Integration Element, and Deputy Battle Watch Commander, Global Operations Center.

CDR Laus has accumulated over 2,500 flight hours in support of USSTRATCOM and Task Force 124 global deterrence operations; and his personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various other service and unit awards.
