Commander William Gray

Executive Officer, Fleet Readiness Center Northwest

31 December 2020 Commander William Gray is a native of Long Beach, CA, and a graduate of the California State University of Long Beach, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.  He was commissioned through the Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida in January of 2003 and designated an Aerospace Maintenance Duty Officer in May of 2003.
 
He attended the United States Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California and received his Masters of Buisness Administration in Supply Chain Mangaement and Logistics in December 2009.  In 2012, he was designated an Acquisition Corps member.
 
Gray’s operational assignments included tours as Material Control Officer (MCO), Quality Assurance Officer (QAO) , Maintenance Material Control Officer (MMCO), and Assistant Maintenance Officer (AMO) in Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 151, QAO, MMCO, and AMO in Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 192, Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department General Aviation Division (IM-2) and Avionics and Armament Devision Officer (IM-3) onboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), Carrier Air Group Maintenance Officer (CAGMO) in Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11 as part of the USS Nimitz (CVN 68) Strike Group and Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Officer (AIMDO) aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). During these tours, he participated in WESTPAC/Surge deployment, Operation Unified Assistance, regular patrols of the Asian Pacific region as part of the Forward Deployed Naval Forces (FDNF), Operation New Dawn, Enduring Freedom and Tomodachi aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63),  and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76).
 
His shore tours include Type Wing Maintenance Officer (WING MO) and AMO, Electronic Attack Wing, Whidbey Island Washington, Level II Production and Readiness Officer, Commander Fleet Readiness Centers (COMFRC) Patuxent River Maryland, and WING MO, Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic, Oceana Virginia.
 
In November 2022, CDR Gray reported onboard NAS Whidbey Island, and currently serves as the Executive Officer at Fleet Readiness Center Northwest, Whidbey Island Washington.
 
Gray earned his Professional Aviation Maintenance Officer Wings and has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards)  Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards).
