08 June 2021 A native of Summit Station, Ohio, Senior Chief Box enlisted in the United States Navy as an Information Systems Technician in 2001.  He graduated from IT ‘A’ school in 2002 before reporting to NCTAMS EURCENT Naples, Italy as a Tech Control Supervisor and served 18 months on the base Auxiliary Security Force. 

ITCS Box transferred to NCTS Bahrain as a Watch Supervisor in February 2004.  He was also a Technical Rescue Team Leader on the Emergency Response Team for 13 months. 

For his first ship tour Senior Chief Box reported to the USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) in 2005 where he served as the Navy/Marine Corps POC for Marine Expeditionary Unit communications, a system administrator, and Watch Supervisor.  

ITCS Box was assigned to a NATO tour out of Naples, Italy in 2007 where he was the Signal Squadron Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge (NCOIC) and a member of a Joint Mission Training Team tasked with training NATO and Partner for Peace (PfP) Nations in subject matter to include urban combat operations, NCO leadership development, and combat medicine.  He completed two combat tours to Afghanistan; in 2007 and 2008.

Senior Chief Box departed NATO in April 2010 for SEAL Team FOUR in Virginia Beach, VA. He served as the Department Leading Chief Petty Officer (DLCPO) and completed two combat tours; one in Iraq in 2010 and one in Afghanistan in 2012.

Following his SEAL Team tour, ITCS Box served as the Information Systems DLCPO onboard USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) out of Gaeta, Italy from 2013-2016.  He qualified as a Combat Information Systems Watch Officer and Communications Watch Officer and completed multiple deployments.

In 2016 Senior Chief Box reported to the Joint Special Operations Command, Ft. Bragg, NC. He worked as the NCOIC of the J6 Operations Planning team.  He completed one combat tour to Afghanistan in 2017.

ITCS Box split his JSOC tour with the Joint Communications Unit, Ft. Bragg in 2018, where he graduated Special Operations Command Operators Training Course class 18-1 and served as the Communications Team DLCPO.  He completed multiple deployments to various locations during his time at JCU.

Senior Chief Box currently serves as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for the Kraken of Tactical Operations Control Squadron 10 out of NAS Whidbey Island.

Senior Chief Box holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Leadership from the University of Charleston, WV and is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 220 Brown).  His personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (two awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement Medal (six awards), Combat Action Ribbon (three awards), the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal as well as numerous other service and campaign medals.  He has completed combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as various other locations.  He is qualified as an Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist, Expeditionary Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, an advanced open water diver, and is designated as a Naval Parachutist.
