Commander Clarence R. Boswell is a native of Cocoa, Florida. He graduated from Jacksonville University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in History. CDR Boswell was commissioned an Ensign through Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport Rhode Island in March of 2008 and reported to Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola where he earned his Naval Flight Officer Wings in October 2009. In November 2009 he reported to the VAQ-129 Vikings for initial fleet training in the EA-6B Prowler.

Beginning his operational flying in January 2011 with the Cougars of VAQ-139, Boswell quickly deployed on the USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) for a Western Pacific Combat Deployment. During the 2011 cruise, he participated in Operation TOMODACHI, Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. In January 2012, the Cougars retired the EA-6B Prowler, and CDR Boswell transitioned with his squadron to the EA-18G Growler. In March 2014 CDR Boswell returned to VAQ-129 as an Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO) instructor. While at VAQ-129 he served as Crew Resource Management Program Manager, NATOPs Instructor, NATOPs Unit Evaluator, and Air-to-Air Counter Tactics Phase Head, and he was awarded the 2015 VAQ- 129 Instructor EWO of the Year.

Selected as the Aide-de-Camp for the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Operations Plans and Strategy (N3/N5) in March of 2016, CDR Boswell reported to the Pentagon. As Aide, CDR Boswell was responsible for coordinating operations of a 3-Star Office and managed a demanding schedule of which included congressional briefs and executive level meetings. In October 2017, Boswell reported to U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. There he earned a Master’s Degree in National Security and Policy.

After graduating from U.S. Naval War College in November 2018, CDR Boswell reported to VAQ-130 as a Department Head. While at VAQ-130 he served as Administrative Officer, Maintenance Officer, and Operations Officer. The squadron completed back-to-back deployments onboard USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69) to US Central Command AOR in 2020 and 2021 in support of the Afghanistan Retrograde.

In November 2021 CDR Boswell reported for US European Command Headquarters (USEUCOM) in Stuttgart, Germany to serve as Joint Logistics Future Planner, Joint Logistics Operations Team Chief, and Joint Operations Future Planner for Eastern Mediterranean. While at USEUCOM, he was selected for Operational Command and reported to VAQ-134 as Executive Officer in February 2024.

CDR Boswell has accumulated over 1,800 flight hours. He is entitled to wear the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various personal, unit and service awards.
