Commander Eric Martin is a native of Michigan City, IN. He is a 2006 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering, and a 2015 graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School, where he received a Master of Science in Systems Engineering. He received his commission through Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps and was designated a naval aviator in 2008.

Martin reported to Patrol Squadron 47 in 2008 where he deployed to the Western Pacific and Middle East during Operating Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2012 he reported as the Flag Aide to the Commander, Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division and Assistant Commander for Test and Evaluation, Naval Air Systems Command. He is a 2015 graduate of the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, Class 147. He then reported to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 20 for the P-8A Integrated Test Team where he led the P-8A Aerial Refueling Certification effort and received the 2016 Department of the Navy Aspiring Tester Award. In 2018, he reported to Patrol Squadron 4 as a Department Head deploying to SIXTH and SEVENTH Fleets, where he was the Maintenance Officer. In September 2020, CDR Martin reported to COMSEVENTHFLT as the Korea Exercise and Plans Officer.

CDR Martin reported to Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility (FACSFAC) San Diego as the Executive Officer in 2021.

CDR Martin’s decorations include the Air Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards).
