Raised in Beaufort, NC, Master Chief Kuers enlisted in the Navy in January of 1995. After completing basic training at Great Lakes, he attended Aviation Electricians Mate "A" School in Millington, TN and reported to the World Famous Swap Foxes, HSL-44 in Mayport, FL.
While assigned to HSL-44, he served as a Plane Captain and AE CDQAR, and completed two deployments to the Persian Gulf onboard the USS Stephen W. Groves (FFG-29) and USS San Jacinto (CG-56) earning his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist qualification.
In August of 1999 he reported to S.E.R.E. in Brunswick, ME followed by NACCS in Pensacola FL to start the Aircrew pipeline. Graduating from VP-30’s P-3C Flight Engineer school in July of 2000 where he was designated as a Naval Aircrewman. In August of 2000 he reported to Patrol Squadron FOUR SEVEN in Kaneohe Bay, HI and served as Flight Engineer Instructor and Training department Leading Petty Officer.
In August of 2004 he was selected to return to VP-30 Pro’s Nest for instructor duty where he served as Fleet Instructor Under Training (FIUT) Leading Petty Officer, earning his Master Training Specialist (MTS) and Safe for Flight qualification. While assigned he was advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 2007 and served as Maintenance Control Shooter’s Chief.
In February of 2008 he returned to sea duty with Patrol Squadron NINE, serving as NATOPS, Training and Operations LCPO and advanced to Senior Chief in June 2011. After graduating from the Air Force Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Academy (Class 12C) in May of 2012 he returned to VP-30 Pro’s Nest to serve as Flight Engineer Division Leading Chief Petty Officer.
In 2014 Senior Chief Kuers was assigned to Patrol Squadron FOUR as Senior Enlisted Aircrewman and Operations LCPO where he was advanced to Command Master Chief in April of 2016.
In January of 2017 Master Chief Kuers reported as the Command Master Chief of VQ-1, the "WORLD WATCHERS".
