Commander Susan M. Burge
Executive Officer, Navy Air Logistics Office

A native of Gales Ferry, Connecticut, Commander Susan M. Burge holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, in Worcester, Massachusetts and a Master of Science Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology, at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. CDR Burge was commissioned through the College of the Holy Cross Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps in 2003 and designated as a Naval Aviator in 2006, where she successively reported to Patrol Squadron THIRTY (VP-30), in Jacksonville, Florida, for initial training in the P-3C Orion.
From 2007 to 2010, CDR Burge completed an operational tour with the “Red Lancers” of Patrol Squadron TEN (VP-10), in Brunswick, Maine and homeport changed to Jacksonville, Florida. While at VP-10, she completed two overseas deployments to both Pacific Command Area of Responsibility (PACOM AOR) and Central Command (CENTCOM) AOR and multiple detachments to European Command (EUCOM) AOR. In 2010, Following VP-10, she completed her shore tour at the P-3C FLEET Replenishment Squadron, VP-30, as both an Instructor Pilot and a Weapons Training Instructor Pilot, serving as the VP-30 Training Officer during the transition to the P-8A Poseidon. In 2013, she reported to the aircraft carrier, USS GEORGE H. W. BUSH (CVN 77) in Norfolk, Virginia, as the Assistant Strike Officer. There she planned and coordinated all air operations and shipboard events between embarked staffs and 19 shipboard departments, during CVN 77’s workups and her second combat deployment to the CENTCOM AOR, in support of operations over Afghanistan and Iraq. While onboard CVN 77, she earned her designation as Officer of the Deck. From there she subsequently re-designated to a Full Time Support Officer.
In 2015, CDR Burge reported to Fleet Logistic Support Squadron Six Four (VR-64) where she held positions as the Administration Officer and the Operations Officer. There she completed five detachments to both EUCOM and CENTCOM, providing responsive heavy air logistics support to Department of Defense forces worldwide.
From 2018 to 2020, CDR Burge served as the Commanding officer of Navy Operational Support Center Rochester, New York, ensuring the operational readiness of 125 Naval reservists.
Currently, she is serving at the Executive Officer of Navy Air Logistics Office in New Orleans, Louisiana.
CDR Burge has logged over 2,000 flight hours in T-6A, T-44B, P-3C and the C-130T aircraft. Her personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (Third Award), Navy Achievement Medal (Fourth Award) and multiple unit, campaign and sea service related awards.
