Command Senior Chief Shanika D. Scurlark

Command Senior Chief Shanika D. Scurlark, a native of Albany, Georgia, enlisted in the Navy under the Delayed Entry Program in June of 1998. After Attending basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois, she reported to Cryptologic Technician (Administrative) “A” school in Pensacola, Florida. The rating later merged with Yeoman. In 2014, she converted to Navy Counselor.
 
Her first tour was NTTC Corry Station in Pensacola, Fl. She served as the administrative assistant and was advanced to Petty Officer Second Class. Her subsequent shore tours were NSGD Diego Garcia as the awards clerk, CSG MacDill AFB, Admin Noncommissioned Officer-in-Charge, NAVCENT Bahrain, Admin Leading Petty Officer. She then decided to take a tour with Shore Special Programs as a Recruiter with NRD Miami. While attached she was meritoriously promoted to Petty Officer First Class. 
 
In 2012 she reported to USS MOBILE BAY (CG 53). While there she served as the Ship’s Secretary and Command Career Counselor. She deployed to the Western Pacific in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. She was also selected for Chief Petty Officer. In 2014, she reported to SERMC in Mayport, Florida, where she served as the Command Career Counselor and Admin Officer.
 
In 2018 she reported as the ISIC Career Counselor for CG II MEF where she was selected for Senior Chief Petty Officer. Following her promotion, she reported to Navy Personal Command, where she served as the Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer for Shore Special Programs. While there she was selected into the Command Senior Enlisted Leader Program.
 
Senior Chief Scurlark is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 238/Khaki), CMC/COB Course (Class 90). She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Troy State University in Criminal Justice and Master’s Degree in Forensic Technology from Nova Southeastern University.
Her personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards) Meritorious Outstanding Volunteer Medal, Good Conduct Medal (six awards), Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Specialist, and various unit and campaign awards. She is also the recipient of the 2014 Anna Der-Vartanian Leadership Award.
