Commander Robert Dalton
Executive Officer, Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 6
Commander Dalton is an American citizen born overseas in Johannesburg, South Africa. His family moved to Alexandria, VA, in 1994. He is the son of an enlisted U.S. Sailor and grandson of a World War II South African Air Force pilot. He is a 2007 Virginia Tech Corps of Cadet graduate, earning his Bachelor of Science, and was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps. He holds a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
Designated a U.S. Naval Aviator in 2009, he is a 2014 U.S. Navy Rotary Wing Weapons School (SEAWOLF) graduate and has flown over 2,900 flight hours.
Operational tours include HSC-9, stationed in Naval Station Norfolk, VA, as part of Carrier Air Wing EIGHT’s (CVW-8) Team FACTORY, embarked on the USS GEORGE H. W. BUSH (CVN 77); HSC-12, forward-deployed to Naval Air Facility Atsugi, Japan, as part of CVW-5’s Team BADMAN embarked on the USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76); and HSC-14, stationed in Naval Air Station North Island, CA, as part of CVW-9’s Team SHOGUN embarked on the USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN-74).
Shore assignments include the HSC Weapons School, Atlantic, stationed in Naval Station Norfolk, VA, and the U.S. Naval War College at Naval Station, Newport, RI.
Commander Dalton is humbled to serve beside the world’s finest warfighters “so others may live.” He is the loving husband of Casey and the proud father of three beautiful children, Grace, Alice, and James.
