Command Master Chief James R. Kuroski

Command Master Chief James R. Kuroski enlisted in the Navy in April 1995. He is a native of Bridgewater, Connecticut.

His training includes Basic Training at Recruit Training Command, Journeyman Instructor Training, and Recruit Division Commander “C” School, the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 167 (KHAKI), CMC/COB Class # A-570-4500, and Advanced CMC Class #24080.

His sea duty assignments include USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65), USS AUSTIN (LPD 4), USS KAUFFMAN (FFG 59), USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76), USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73), USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71), USS CINCINNATI (LCS 20) Pre-COM, USS OAKLAND (LCS 24) Pre-COM, and Destroyer Squadron 21, where he embarked USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72). He completed eight shipboard deployments to the U.S. Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Fleet areas, two Forward Deployed Naval Forces – Europe (FDNF – E) Patrols, and one Humanitarian Aid to Haiti.

His shore tours include USS CONSTITUTION in Boston, and the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, where he served as 13th Company Senior Enlisted Leader and also taught Basic Seamanship and Navigation in Luce Hall.

In February, 2017, Master Chief Kuroski was selected to the Command Senior Chief program. In March 2017, he reported for duty as Command Senior Chief of USS CINNCINNATI (LC2 20) Blue Crew 205 in San Diego. In August of 2017 he was promoted to Command Master Chief.

His next Command Master Chief tour was USS ROOSEVELT (DDG 80), from April 2019 to November 2021. ROOSEVELT executed a Home Port Shift to FDNF-E, Rota Spain, in 2020. Next, he served as Destroyer Squadron 21 Command Master Chief based in San Diego from November 2021 to May 2024. He reported aboard as command master chief of USS NIMTZ (CVN 68) in Bremerton, Washington in May 2024.

His personal awards include the 2008 George Sirian Meritorious Leadership Award, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy Achievement Medal (three awards), and numerous unit citations.
