Command Master Chief (CMDCM) Turner is a highly accomplished senior enlisted leader with extensive operational and leadership experience across diverse naval platforms and environments. A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, CMDCM Turner his academic background, includes graduating from Milwaukee Trade and Technical High School and Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota.
His naval career commenced in April 1998 at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois. Subsequently, his sea duty assignments encompassed a broad spectrum of operational deployments and responsibilities, including service aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69), USS Boxer (LHD-4), USS Emory S. Land (AS-39), USS Nimitz (CVN-68), USS Stethem (DDG-63), and USS John P. Murtha (LPD-26). He also served with Electronic Attack Squadron ONE FOUR ONE. CMDCM Turner's leadership roles extended to Command Master Chief assignments for VAQ-141, USS Stethem (DDG-63), USS John P. Murtha (LPD-26), and Naval Base Coronado.
His professional development includes successful completion of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 186, "Gold"), the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat (CMC/COB) course (Class 162), and the Executive Leadership Symposium (2018). His shore assignments include Naval Technical Training Command (NTTC) Corry Station, Southwest Intermediate Maintenance Activity/Southwest Regional Maintenance Center, and a significant contribution as an Individual Augmentee to the Joint Detention Operations Group, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Commander, United States Naval Forces Central Command/Commander Fifth Fleet. His selection to Chief Petty Officer occurred while serving with Amphibious Construction Battalion One (ACB-1). He also served a crucial tour as an Individual Augmentee to the International Security Assistance Force at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, in January 2011. CMDCM Turner currently serves as Command Master Chief aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76), assuming this role in January 2024.
His decorations included the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various unit and campaign medals. He is authorized to wear he Enlisted Surface, Aviation, Information, Expeditionary, Seabee Combat Warfare insignia along with the Enlisted Small Craft boat pin.
