Commander James C. Jordan
Commanding Officer, Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 131

A native of Norcross, Georgia, Commander Jordan enlisted in the Navy in January 1996. Upon completion of initial training in Great Lakes and San Diego, he reported to his first operations command, USS Wadsworth (FFG-9) in August 1997 as a Fire Controlman (FC3) working on the Close-In-Weapon System (CIWS). He submitted his application to the Seaman to Admiral 21
st
Century (STA-21) upon completion of that tour in May 2001.
He received his selection status of the STA-21 program while stationed at RTC Great Lakes as a Recruit Division Commander in October 2001. CDR Jordan graduated from Georgia State University in 2005, earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Program in December 2005. After commissioning he reported to NAS Pensacola, FL for flight training in June 2006. He earned his Naval Flight Officer Wings in February 2008 and reported to VAQ 129 “Vikings” for initial fleet training as an EA-6B Electronic Countermeasures Officer.
CDR Jordan began his operational flying in June 2009 with the “Zappers” of VAQ 130. While a “Zapper”, he made an operational deployment aboard USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75), participating in Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and transitioned to the EA-18G Growler.
CDR Jordan reported to United States Test Pilot School in Patuxent River Maryland as part of Class 143 and graduated in June 2013. He reported to AIRTEVRON THREE ONE (VX-31), serving as a Project Officer for EA-18G from August 2013 through June 2017 as was recognized as the Test NFO of the Year for 2015.
CDR Jordan returned to the fleet as a Department Head with the “Shadowhawks” of VAQ-141. He completed three deployments aboard USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 66) in Indo-Pacific Area of Operations, serving as both Operations Officer and Maintenance Officer from July 2017 to December 2019.
Following his department head tour, CDR Jordan served as the Military Deputy for Distributed Mission Training at NAWCTSD in Orlando FL, where he was selected for squadron command. In January 2023 CDR Jordan reported for duty as the Executive Officer of VAQ-131 and assumed command as LANCER ONE in April 2024.
CDR Jordan has accumulated over 2,000 flight hours in 23 aircraft and 328 carrier arrested landings, including 44 combat missions. His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal (2 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (2 awards), and Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards) and various service awards and ribbons.
