Commander Kenneth “Kitty” Kapp

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, CDR Kapp graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics. He winged as a Naval Flight Officer (NFO) in April 2009 at Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, Flordia.  
Following fleet replacement training in the F/A-18F Super Hornet at Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 106, CDR Kapp began his operational flying with the “Checkmates” of VFA-211 at NAS Oceana, Virginia. He deployed aboard USS Enterprise (CVN-65) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and New Dawn from 2010-2012.  
 
CDR Kapp briefly reported to VFA-106 as an instructor NFO before being selected for NFO to Pilot transition. He completed pilot training and earned his Naval Aviator Wings in 2015 at NAS Meridian, Mississippi. Following fleet replacement training in the E/A-18G Growler at Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 129, CDR Kapp joined the Yellow Jackets of VAQ-138 for two seventh fleet deployments from 2016-2019.  
 
In 2019, CDR Kapp reported as Department Head to the “Zappers” of VAQ-130 , where he deployed aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) in support of Operation Inherent Resolve from 2019-2021. 
  
Next, CDR Kapp was assigned to Commander Naval Air Forces Atlantic (CNAL) in Norfolk, Virginia, as the VAQ requirements officer from 2021-2023.  
 
CDR Kapp has accumulated over 2400 flight hours and 500 carrier-arrested landings. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal (two), Navy Commendation Medal (two), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various campaign and unit awards.
