Commanded Master Chief Kenneth P. Sheppard is a native of Newport, Arkansas and graduated from Newport High School in May 1998. He entered the Navy in August of 1998 and attended Recruit Training and Seaman Apprentice Training in Great Lakes, Illinois.
Master Chief Sheppard began his career as an undesignated Seaman aboard USS JUNEAU (LPD 10) home port in San Diego, California in December of 1998, and then struck and advanced to Mess Management Specialist third class Petty Officer. During this first tour he was also part of the first ever Naval hull swap with the USS DUBUQUE (LPD 8) and participated as the first responding ARG in support of Operation Enduring Freedom after the attacks of 9/11.
His other operational assignments include USS Chancellorsville (CG 62), USS SHILOH (CG 67), USS HALSEY (DDG 97), USS RUSSELL, and USS GREEN BAY (LPD 20).
In addition, Master Chief Sheppard completed shore assignments at Naval Support Activity, New Orleans, Louisiana; Center for Service Support Learning Site FT. Lee, Virginia; and Afloat Training Group San Diego, California.
Master Chief Sheppard was selected for the Command Master Chief program in February 2022 and completed the CMC/COB Course at Naval Leadership & Ethics Center Newport, Rhode Island, in April 2022.
He currently serves as Command Master Chief of Electronic Attack Squadron ONE FOUR ZERO (VAQ-140) aboard the USS GEORGE H. W. BUSH (CVN 77).
Personal decorations include three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, as well as various unit awards, campaign and service decorations. He is qualified to wear the Enlisted Surface and Aviation Warfare Specialist pin. Master Chief Sheppard has earned an Associate in General Degree Studies from the University of Columbia.
