Commander Robert Prince
Commanding Officer, Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 192

Commander Prince, a native of Fairport, New York, graduated from Duke University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and was commissioned through the NROTC program. He graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2004 with a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and from the Naval War College in 2017 with a Master of Arts in National Security Affairs and Strategic Studies.
After being designated as a Naval Aviator in November 2006, he reported to the “Gladiators” of VFA-106 for initial flight training in the F/A-18E Super Hornet. His first operational assignment was to the “Eagles” of VFA-115 at NAS Lemoore, CA and later NAF Atsugi, Japan where he deployed onboard USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) and USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. CDR Prince returned to VFA-106 as a flight instructor in 2011 where he served as the Performance Review Officer and Fighter Phase Head.
In November 2013, CDR Prince reported to the “Blue Diamonds” of VFA-146 onboard USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) where he served as a department head in the administrative, safety, maintenance, and operations departments. During this tour, VFA-146 completed the transition from F/A-18C aircraft to F/A-18E.
Ashore, he served on the Joint Staff in Washington, D.C. as a Branch Chief in the Support Agency Review and Assessment Office within the Force Structure, Resources, and Assessment Directorate (J-8) from 2018 to 2019. He reported to the “Golden Dragons” of VFA-192 as Executive Officer in April 2021 and assumed duties as Commanding Officer on 4 August 2022.
CDR Prince has accumulated over 2,500 flight hours and 500 carrier arrested landings. His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal and various other personal, campaign, and service awards.
