Commander Toni "Miggles" Miggins
Commanding Officer, Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 139

A native of Chicago, IL, Commander Antonia Miggins graduated from the University of Michigan in 2005 with a degree in History where she also earned her commission through the Navy ROTC program. She was designated a Naval Flight Officer in May 2008 and travelled to NAS Whidbey Island to join the “Vikings” of VAQ-129 for initial training in the EA-6B Prowler.
Commander Miggins’ began her operational flying in January 2010 with the “COUGARS” of Electronic Attack Squadron ONE THREE NINE (VAQ-139), where she served as the 1st LT, Schedules Officer, Aircraft Division Officer, and Personnel Officer. While assigned to VAQ-139 under Carrier Air Wing 14 (CVW 14), she deployed onboard the USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) for a combat deployment in 2011 in support of OPERATION TOMODACHI the Japanese Tsunami relief, and Operations NEW DAWN and ENDURING FREEDOM, accumulating over 100 combat hours and 20 combat missions. Post the 2011 deployment CDR Miggins was designated as a Prowler Mission Commander. In 2012 the “COUGARS” transitioned from the EA-6B to the EA-18G Growler. CDR Miggins quickly completed her Growler Weapons and Tactics Program (GWTP) and earned the designations of Growler Mission Commander and SEAD Lead. Additionally, she was awarded the Junior Officer Inspirational Leadership Award from the VAQ-139 Commanding Officer.
In March 2014, she reported to Naval Air Warfare Development Center (NAWDC) at NAS Fallon for the Growler Tactics Instructor (GTI) Course. After completing the course and earning “the Patch,” she stayed in Fallon to instruct at both STRIKE (Air Wing Training) and HAVOC as Standardization Officer, Assistant Training Officer, and SEAD Branch Manager. During her tenure at NAWDC she planned, participated in, and instructed multiple Joint, Combined, and Multi-lateral exercises across all forces.
Following instructor duty in 2017, CDR Miggins departed Fallon to return to NAS Whidbey with the “GARUDAS” of VAQ-134, an expeditionary Growler squadron, as Training Officer. During her tour, she participated in multiple Air Force Large Force Exercises (LFEs) at both Nellis AFB and JRB Elmendorf, Alaska, and then executed their 2017 Pacific Expeditionary deployment which included missions in Japan, Korea, and Guam.
In January 2018, after completing the Intermediate Leadership School (ILC), Commander Miggins reported to the “PATRIOTS” of VAQ-140 as an operational Department Head. During her tour at VAQ-140, she earned her overall Strike Lead qualification, and successfully deployed on an “Around the World” combat cruise onboard the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) in 2019 in support of Operation FREEDOM’S SENTINEL as well as various unit and multi-national operations. While with the “PATRIOTS” she served as Administrative Officer, Operations Officer, and Maintenance Officer.
CDR Miggins completed her Master of Arts degree in Defense and Strategic Studies at the US Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. In March of 2021 CDR Miggins selected for operational command and reported to the “Cougars” of VAQ-139 in Oct 2022 and assumed command of the squadron in February 2024.
Over her career, Commander Miggins’ has accumulated over 2,000 flight hours and 450 carrier arrested landings. Her personal decorations include an Air Medal Strike Flight, a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3) and multiple campaign medals.
