Commander Mark Tedrow
Commanding Officer, Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 25

A native of Charleroi, Pennsylvania Commander Tedrow graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2004, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in History. Upon graduation in May 2004, CDR Tedrow reported to NAS Pensacola, FL for Aviation Preflight Indoctrination (API). In November of 2004 he reported to NAS Corpus Christi, TX for Primary flight training in the T-34C Turbo Mentor. In August of 2005, CDR Tedrow was selected for Jet training and reported to NAS Kingsville, TX for advanced flight training in the T-45A Goshawk. He earned his Naval Aviator “Wings of Gold” in August of 2006. In October of 2006, CDR Tedrow reported to the VMFAT-101 “Sharpshooters” located at MCAS Miramar, CA for initial training in the F/A-18C Hornet.
CDR Tedrow began his operational flying in November 2007 with VFA-25 “The Fist of the Fleet”. While a Fistie, he made two operational combat deployments aboard the USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76), participating in Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
CDR Tedrow reported to the VFA-122 “Flying Eagles” in November of 2010 as an Instructor Pilot in the F/A-18A-F legacy and Super Hornet models. In July 2011, he was selected as a member of the 2012 Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron (NFDS), “Blue Angels.” While attached to the Blue Angels, CDR Tedrow served as Blue Angel #7 (Narrator/VIP Pilot), Blue Angel #6 (Opposing Solo), and Blue Angel #5 (Lead Solo/Operations Officer).
In November of 2015, CDR Tedrow returned to the fleet as a Department Head in VFA-22, the “Fighting Redcocks”. With the Redcocks, he completed one operational combat deployment aboard the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71) in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE, serving as the Administration Officer, Safety Officer, and Maintenance Officer.
Following his department head tour, CDR Tedrow served as an action officer at US Africa Command (AFRICOM) Headquarters, J-3 Directorate in Stuttgart, Germany. While at AFRICOM, he directly supported Joint Operations on the African continent as the Joint Operations Command (JOC) Operations Officer. He selected for squadron command in March 2019 and reported to VFA-25 as Executive Officer.
CDR Tedrow has accumulated over 3,400 flight hours and 356 carrier arrested landings. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal (2 awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various service awards and ribbons.
