Command Master Chief Virginia Y. Sanders

Master Chief Sanders is a native of Cleveland, Ohio.  She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School and enlisted in the United State Navy one month later on July 28, 2004.  After completing basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois, she attended CTR “A” and “C” school in Pensacola, Florida.
 
Her first assignment was NIOC Hawaii.  During her tour at NIOC Hawaii she was advanced to both Petty Officer Third Class and Petty Officer Second Class.
 
In June 2008, she transferred to the USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7) where she completed one Fifth Fleet deployment, one deployment to Africa and one South American Deployment and qualified both Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist.
 
July 2011, Master Chief Sanders attended Analysis and Reporting Course at CID DET Goodfellow, TX where she was advanced to Chief Petty Officer.  She transferred to NAVIOVOM Georgia as the Division Leading Chief Petty Officer for CTF-1050 Battle Watch Division.  During her tour she qualified Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist.
 
August 2014, she attended Afloat Cryptologic Manager Course in Pensacola, Fl.  After graduation she transferred to USS PREBLE (DDG 88) where she served as the Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer.
 
November 2017, Master Chief Sanders reported to Afloat Training Group Norfolk where she served as the Division Leading Chief Petty Officer for the Information Warfare Division and an Afloat Trainer where she qualified as a Master Training Specialist.
 
July 2021, she reported to COMSIXTHFLT where she advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer and is served as the Intelligence Directorate Senior Enlisted Leader.  While at COMSIXTHFLT CTRCM was selected for the command program to become a rated Command Master Chief. 
 
June 2023, Command Master Chief Sanders reported to VFA-94 where she is currently serving as the Command Master Chief.  Personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various unit awards and citations.
