Commander Matthew Warshaw

A native of Metairie, Louisiana, Commander Warshaw graduated from the United States Naval Academy in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in History.  After commissioning, he attended graduate school at the University of Oxford, England, earning a Master of Studies in Global and Imperial History.  Designated as a Naval Aviator in April 2011, he reported to the “Gladiators” of VFA-106 for initial fleet training in the FA-18E/F Super Hornet.

His sea tours include operational assignments with the “Gunslingers” of VFA-105 and, as part of Forward Deployed Naval Forces Japan, both the “Eagles” of VFA-115 and the “Dambusters” of VFA-195.  He has completed multiple deployments aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), supporting Operations Enduring Freedom and Freedom’s Sentinel, as well as Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet tasking.

In December 2021, he reported to the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center (NAWDC), helping stand up the NAWDC Integration Department (DAUNTLESS) in support of Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command multi-domain warfare and Joint initiatives.  During his tour at NAWDC, he graduated from the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) and was designated as a Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor.  His additional shore assignments include duty as an instructor pilot with the “Sabrehawks” of VT-86 and the “Gladiators” of VFA-106.  At NAWDC, he served as an Air Wing Fallon overall instructor and adversary pilot.

Commander Warshaw has accumulated over 3800 flight hours in the FA-18E/F Super Hornet, F-16A/B/C/D Fighting Falcon, FA-18C/D Hornet, EA-18G Growler, and T-45C Goshawk.  His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Strike/Flight Air Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), along with various campaign and unit awards. A native of Metairie, Louisiana, Commander Warshaw graduated from the United States Naval Academy in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in History.  In December 2021, he reported to the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center (NAWDC), helping stand up the NAWDC Integrated Warfare Department (DAUNTLESS) in support of Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command joint warfighting initiatives. During this time, he also qualified in the F-16A Fighting Falcon, served as an Air Wing Fallon overall instructor, and graduated from the U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) with the designation of Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor.

 He has accumulated over 4,100 flight hours in various tactical jet aircraft and over 670 carrier arrested landings in the FA-18E Super Hornet. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Strike/Flight Air Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), in addition to various individual, campaign, and unit awards. Commander Warshaw reported to Strike Fighter Squadron TWO SEVEN in August 2024.
