A native of Howell, New Jersey, Commander Mohr graduated and commissioned from the US Naval Academy in 2006. He earned his commission in May 2006 and was designated a Naval Aviator in October 2010. Following flight school, he reported to the VFA-106 “Gladiators” for initial fleet training in the F/A-18C hornet, finishing in August 2011. CDR Mohr’s operational assignments include tours with the VFA-15 “Valions” and the VFA-22 “Fighting Redcocks”. He has completed four deployments aboard USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN-77), USS THEODORE ROOSVELT (CVN-71), and USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) leading combat missions in support of Operations NEW DAWN, FREEDOM SENTINEL, RESOLUTE SUPPORT, and INHERENT RESOLVE, as well as flying in support of Western Pacific Contingency Operations. Prior to flight school, he attended graduate school at University of North Carolina for two years. Additional shore assignments include Instructor Pilot at VFA-122 “Flying Eagles”, and the J35 Joint Targeting Section Head at STRIKFORNATO in Lisbon, Portugal. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the US Naval Academy and a M.S. in Physics (Nuclear) from the University of North Carolina. CDR Mohr selected for command in May 2020 and reported to the VFA-113 “Stingers” as the Executive Officer in June 2023. He currently serves as the Stingers Commanding Officer in October 2024. CDR Mohr has amassed more than 2,300 flights hours and 400 carrier arrested landings in the F/A-18 C/E/F. His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Strike/Flight Air Medal (2 awards), the Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal (2 awards), and the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Award, as well as various other personal and unit awards.
