Commander Gregory Vasiloff

CDR Greg Vasiloff graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL in May 2005 with a B.S. Degree in Aerospace Studies and was commissioned through the NROTC program.  CDR Vasiloff was designated a Naval Aviator in Kingsville, TX in December 2007.

Following Fleet Replacement Pilot Training at VAW-120, he began his first sea tour flying the E-2C Hawkeye 2000 with the VAW-126 SEAHAWKS in Norfolk, VA.  He deployed aboard USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN 75) with CVW-3 in 2010 participating in Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and NEW DAWN.

CDR Vasiloff returned to the VAW-120 GREYHAWKS as an E-2C Instructor Pilot and head Landing Signal Officer.  During this tour, he helped train more than 250 E-2 and C-2 fleet replacement pilots as well as supervise over 20,000 field and 2,500 carrier landings.

In July 2014, CDR Vasiloff reported to Carrier Strike Group EIGHT in Norfolk, VA as the Flag Aide to the Strike Group Commander.  He oversaw and coordinated the professional engagements and schedule of the Commander, helping ensure the TRUMAN Strike Group’s readiness for the 2015 deployment. 

In February 2016, CDR Vasiloff reported to the VAW-113 BLACK EAGLES for his Department Head tour deploying aboard USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70) with Carrier Air Wing TWO (CVW-2) for the 2017 and 2018 WESTPAC deployments as well as the 2018 RIMPAC exercise.

Following his Department Head tour, CDR Vasiloff reported to the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI where he earned a M.A. Degree in National Security & Strategic Studies in November 2019.

CDR Vasiloff selected for squadron command in March 2019 and reported to VAW-113 as the Executive Officer in May 2021.  He once again deployed aboard CVN 70 with CVW-2 for the 2021-2022 “Air Wing of the Future” WESTPAC deployment.  CDR Vasiloff took over as Commanding Officer in July 2022 and led the squadron through the Pacific Fleet’s first E-2D Aerial Refueling (AR) transition and work-up cycle in preparation for the 2023 deployment.

CDR Vasiloff has accumulated over 3,300 flight hours and has over 360 carrier arrested landings to include multiple Air Wing “Top Hook” awards.  His decorations include the Strike Flight Air Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards) and various other unit and personal awards
