A native of Reston, Virginia, Commander Oroza graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and was commissioned in May of 2006. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in International Studies from Old Dominion University and a Doctorate in Political Science from l’Université de Lyon III.
After being designated a Naval Aviator in 2008, CDR Oroza completed MH-60S training in Norfolk, VA and was assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron-TWO SIX (HSC-26) from 2008 to 2011.
At HSC-26 he completed two deployments to the kingdom of Bahrain in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and NEW DAWN.
CDR Oroza served as a Department Head with the “Night Dippers” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron FIVE (HSC-5) from 2017 – 2019. At HSC-5, CDR Oroza completed an around the world deployment on board USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) in support of operation FREEDOM SENTINEL. He served as Detachment Officer in Charge, Training Officer, and Maintenance Officer.
CDR Oroza’s staff assignments include Instructor Pilot at Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron TWO (HSC-2) from 2011-2014 where he served as the Aviation Safety Officer and the Commander Naval Air Forces Atlantic (CNAL) NATOPS Evaluator. He was selected as an Olmsted Scholar and assigned to Lyon, France from 2014-2017 and served as the U.S. Navy Military Aide to the President of the United States under the Trump and Biden administrations from May 2020 to April 2022. As the Military Aide, he coordinated and performed a wide array of functions across the Executive Office of the President, other government agencies, and the White House Military Office to ensure the President was able to execute his duties as Commander in Chief, Head of State, and Chief Executive.
CDR Oroza has accumulated over 2200 flight hours and has been awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), the Presidential Service Badge and various unit and campaign decorations.
