Captain J. T. Pianetta

A native of Fresno, California, Captain Pianetta graduated from the United States Naval Academy in May 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering. He is also a 2011 graduate of the Naval War College, earning a Master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies.
He was designated a Naval Aviator and received his "Wings of Gold" in November 2001. After receiving his initial P-3 training he reported to Patrol Squadron FOUR SIX based at NAS Whidbey Island, Washington. Subsequent operational tours include a Catapult and Arresting Gear Officer on USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71), Department Head in Patrol Squadron EIGHT (VP-8), and Commanding Officer of the “Screaming Eagles” of Patrol Squadron ONE (VP-1).
His shore and staff assignments include instructor pilot at the P-3 FRS (VP-30), Operations Officer at Task Force FIVE SEVEN (CTF-57), Executive Assistant to the Director, Command Control, Communications and Computers/Cyber, Joint Staff (JCS J-6), and CDR/CAPT Assignments Officer at Navy Personnel Command (PERS-43).
Captain Pianetta assumed duties as Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing TEN in March 2024.
Captain Pianetta's personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2), Air Medal (Strike/Flight Award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5) with combat "V", Navy Achievement Medal and various other unit and campaign awards.
