A native of South Weymouth, Massachusetts, Captain Lewis graduated with merit from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government, and is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, Class 135. Operational assignments include service with the "Fighting Marlins" of Patrol Squadron (VP) 40, Department Head with the “Pelicans” of VP-45; Assistant Operations Officer aboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74), qualifying as Officer of the Deck (Underway), and Command of the “Skinny Dragons” of VP-4, where they set the SIXTH Fleet record for adversary submarine contact, earned three consecutive CAPT Arnold Jay Isbell Trophies for ASW excellence, and a Meritorious Unit Commendation from the Secretary of the Navy. Shore and staff assignments include Conduct Officer on the staff of the Commandant of Midshipmen, U.S. Naval Academy; Engineering Test Pilot and P-8A NATOPS Instructor at VX-20; Deputy Branch Head and Assistant Maritime Requirements Officer for the Director, Air Warfare (OPNAV N98); Executive Assistant to the Commander, Naval Air Forces, and Battle Director, Combined Air Operations Center, U.S. Central Command. Captain Lewis assumed duties as Deputy Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing TEN in March 2024. Captain Lewis has logged 97 combat missions and over 2,600 hours in 24 type/model series. He has proudly served with three teams that earned the Battle ‘E’.
