Commander John M. Sadler

Commander Sadler, a native of Kingsville, Texas graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science. He completed the College of Distance Education with the U.S. Naval War College earning his Joint Professional Military Education credit in 2021.
After receiving his designation as a naval aviator in 2008, he was assigned to the “Pelicans” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 45 in Jacksonville, FL where he deployed to Kadena AB, Japan and later to Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti and NAS Sigonella, Sicily.
CDR Sadler began his second sea tour as a Flag Aide to Commander, Carrier Strike Group Twelve homeported in Norfolk, VA and served both RDML Roy Kelley and RDML Kent Whalen.
CDR Sadler completed his transition to the P-8A Poseidon after his Flag Aide tour and went on to serve as a department head for the “Red Lancers” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 10 based out of Jacksonville, FL. During his tour with VP-10, Sadler acted as the Training Officer and later as the Operations Officer. Over the course of his operational tours Sadler has deployed to the 5th, 6th and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Odyssey Dawn, and Unified Protector.
CDR Sadler’s first shore tour was with Commander, Task Force Six Seven in NAS Sigonella, Sicily as the Assistant Operations Officer and Administrative Officer. He recently completed his second shore tour in Misawa, Japan as the Theater Security Cooperation Officer and Future Operations Officer for Commander, Task Force Seven Two. He selected for squadron command in March 2022 and reported to VQ-1 as Executive Officer in May of 2023.
CDR Sadler has logged over 1,800 flight hours in the P-3C Orion and P-8A Poseidon. His decorations include the Air Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and various campaign, unit and service awards.
