Commander Randy Conant

A native of Damariscotta, Maine, Commander Conant graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2005, earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. CDR Conant was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Program and reported to NAS Pensacola, FL for flight training in June 2005. He earned his Naval Aviator Wings in July 2006. In August 2006, CDR Conant reported to the VFA-106 “Gladiators” for initial fleet training in the F/A-18E/F.

CDR Conant began his operational flying in June 2007 with the “Bounty Hunters” of VFA-2.  While a Bullet, he made two deployments aboard USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72), participating in Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and NEW DAWN. 

CDR Conant was selected for the Strike Fighter Weapons School in 2011, and upon completion of TOPGUN reported to Strike Fighter Wing Pacific where he was the Defensive Countermeasures Subject Matter Expert and the FAC(A) Department Head.  In June 2014, he reported back to the Bullets of VFA-2 as Training Officer and deployed on the USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) and USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73).

 CDR Conant joined VFA-32, as a Department Head in August 2016.  While with the Gypsies, he completed one deployment aboard USS DWIGHT D EISENHOWER (CVN 69)  in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE, serving as Administrative, Assistant Operations, Operations, and Maintenance Officer.

Following his department head tour, CDR Conant served as a staff officer at Joint Forces Command Brunssum, The Netherlands, J-3 Directorate.  He selected for squadron command in March 2020 and reported to VFA-94 as Executive Officer in December 2021.


CDR Conant has accumulated over 2,500 flight hours and 450 carrier arrested landings. His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal (3 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), and Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various service awards and ribbons.
